Non-linear, non narrative oil on glass animation tracing the historical, architectural and musical aspects of the ancient city Ani located in Kars, near Turkey-Armenia border. Inspired by Tigran Hamasyan’s song Kars 1 composed after the city, and the ancient Mesopotamian myth of Shahmaran, queen of snakes.
About the Director
I was born in Mersin, Turkey. While completing my highschool education at American Collegiate Institute in Izmir, I focused on learning theoretical and practical aspects of fine arts and design at a studio ran by an influential artist, Duygu Coban. Discovering my growing passion for motion and film I moved to England for studying animation at University for the Creative Arts. My aim is to get inside my paintings via under camera animation techniques and to evoke inner experiences in the framework of collective unco
